In response to the question regarding the postponement of the full court meeting and the resignation of the Chief Justice, Legal Adviser Asif Nazrul said that as far as he knew the Chief Justice had called the full court meeting. In a status (on Facebook) on behalf of the student community, counsel Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan said that he (Chief Justice) did not consult anyone about it. It is supposed to be the move of the despotic defeatist power.
The legal adviser said that the Chief Justice had some questions. Especially when this student movement happened, he (Chief Justice) questioned whether the verdict can be changed by movement. This was not taken well by the people. Apart from this, another thing was very sad. That is, after he became the Chief Justice, he received felicitations from the Chhatra League. Personally he (Asif Nazrul) felt it was a violation of the code of conduct. He received a golden sword as a gift from former DB police chief Haroon Or Rasheed. Apart from this, when he goes abroad, he stays at the residence of Awami League leaders. For these reasons there was controversy about him.
Regarding the demand for the resignation of the Chief Justice from the agitating students, Professor Asif Nazrul, the legal advisor of the interim government, said that if the demand for resignation arises from the mass movement, it will be expected that the Chief Justice will understand how much respect it has to show.Read more
